The Perpetual Plastic Project is all about local recycling of plastics for 3d printing. It's an idea of five ex students of the Delft University (Holland) which involves four steps:
1 - Disposable plastic cups of the consumers are cleaned and dried.
2 - The cups are shredded to small pieces.
3 - The plastic is melted and extruded into filament.
4 - The 3D printer uses the filament to print all kind of products.
The plastic material used for printing 3d is often produced on an industrial scale and he drags behind sustainability issues unfortunately well-known. This installation try to make people see the waste plastic as a resource. This is certainly a step forward to make the 3d printing more sustainable ... glocal... green!
